Dr. Sumra Wajid Abbasi is a Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Pakistan. She earned her PhD. in Bioinformatics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, following earlier degrees in bioinformatics at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She also completed international research training at King’s College London through the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan’s International Research Support Initiative Program. Dr. Abbasi’s scholarly work is rooted in bioinformatics and computational biology, with particular emphasis on protein structure modelling, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, genomics, immunoinformatics, and systems-level data analysis. Her research has advanced computational approaches in infectious diseases, cancer genomics, antimicrobial discovery, and vaccine design, integrating structural biology with large-scale biological data. She has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on multiple competitively funded research projects. She has authored more than 75 international peer-reviewed publications, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 326, 1,993 citations, an h-index of 21, and an i10-index of 37. Her work has appeared in leading journals across computational biology, molecular medicine, and biomedical sciences. Beyond research, Dr. Abbasi plays an active role in academic leadership and mentorship, holding several administrative and advisory positions at NUMS and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research. She also contributes to the international scientific community as a topic editor, guest editor, and reviewer for high-impact journals, particularly in computational biology, immunoinformatics, and vaccine development.
